The SheConnects Winter Panel brings inspirational women together from different walks of life to share with us how they’ve got to where they are (so far) and what has helped them on the way.
Our host for the evening, Business Owner & Coach Consultant, Rebecca Maxwell from Asentiv New York will lead our Panel members through a discussion about their lives to date, what they’ve achieved, what’s worked – and even perhaps a little bit about what hasn’t!
By looking at the different paths our Panelists have traveled, we hope the event will inspire us all to be free to define success in our own terms, and explore some new ideas about how to get there.
The Panelists for our SheConnects Winter Panel are:
Michaella Blisset Williams – CEO and owner of, and mastermind behind the amazing Salon718 hair salon chain in Brooklyn. She started her first salon in her brownstone in Brooklyn, and is now 3 salons strong – and growing. Michaella is driven by her connection to her local community and promoting the growth of her team through education & outreach. She recently joined the Goldman Sachs & Bloomberg 10,000 Small Businesses mentorship program, linking with wealth of business advisors to grow her business and team in 2019 & beyond.
Emily Kirven– Founder and Executive Director of inspirational READ 718, a community based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children from low-income households become strong, confident readers. When an English teacher in a Brooklyn middle school, Emily realized that many of her students were reading far below grade level and many could not afford the support necessary to help them improve. Recognizing the problem as widespread, Emily returned to Teacher College, Columbia University to earn an MA and state certification as a Reading Specialist with the goal of gaining a better understanding of how to help struggling middle grade and adolescent readers. Emily opened READ 718 in January 2015. READ 718 currently serves 150 children per year and engages approximately 70 community volunteers per year. Emily lives in Brooklyn with her husband and three children.
Marina Romashko – experienced executive & productivity coach and founder of Big IDEA Lab. Marina helps people transform ideas into reality. She also specializes in business coaching and works with entrepreneurs on approaching their work with mindfulness to create a balanced life when achieving their personal and business goals. Her clients have been featured in New York Times, Lenny Letter, BBC, CNN, TimeOut, Tribeca Film Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Hollywood Reporter; they’ve made Amazon Best Of Lists, received the Gotham Award, signed multiple book deals, and garnered many five star reviews. Yet these accolades were never the goal. The goal was always to go after an idea while creating a balanced lifestyle that brought more joy than stress.
Wendy Shlensky – Vice President and Global Head of Public Relations and Industry Analyst Relations for HGS, a global leader in business process management. She started in Industry Analyst Relations over 14 years ago when someone took a chance on her. Fourteen years and 3 companies later, she is a sought after professional specializing in working for Indian Outsourcing firms, Chair of the NYC Chapter Chair for Analyst Relations Professionals, and winner of the coveted HGS CEO award & the Infosys Award for Excellence. She thrives on promoting Industry Analyst Relations as well as facilitating networking opportunities for people in her corner of the world. Wendy puts her natural curiosity to good use to continue to learn new skills such as public relations – and patience.
